Delivering to Southern California from Logan and Helper, Utah
Forest River Cherokee Timberwolf 20OG Destination Trailers for Southern California Buyers
Nine 2026 Timberwolf 20OG units in stock at The RV Store of Utah. A 36 foot destination trailer that sleeps 8, with an RV king bed, two lofts, a split bathroom, a covered rear deck and an 18 cubic foot refrigerator. We deliver to Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, the Inland Empire, the Coachella Valley and the Colorado River.
The math that brings Southern California buyers to Utah
If you camp in Southern California you already know the problem. Coastal sites at the good parks book out a year ahead. Weekend rates at the resorts in Palm Desert, San Clemente or Pismo add up faster than a mortgage payment. And the trailer that would actually make a long stay comfortable, the kind with real beds and a real kitchen, costs a fortune on a California lot.
So people start looking outside the state. They find our Logan and Helper stores because we discount the Cherokee Timberwolf 20OG hard and we stock it deep. Right now we have nine of them on the ground for the 2026 model year, sale priced between roughly $40,000 and $42,000 against a manufacturer suggested price that runs from $62,290 up to $70,846 depending on the unit. That is a spread of twenty to twenty nine thousand dollars off suggested retail. For most Southern California buyers, the savings cover the delivery several times over and then some.
The other reason we get these calls is availability. A destination trailer that sleeps eight in 36 feet with two lofts and a covered deck is a specific piece of equipment, and it is not something every dealer keeps in multiples. When you call a lot in Riverside or Bakersfield you are usually shopping one unit in whatever color it came in. Here you are picking from nine, across two stores, with different pricing and different option packages on them.
We deliver nationwide across the USA and Canada, and Southern California sits well inside that range. The whole purchase can be handled remotely, with paperwork by email and courier and delivery to your site or storage yard. You do not have to make the drive to Utah unless you want to.
Buying new solves the California park age problem
This is the part a lot of first time destination trailer buyers do not find out until it costs them a reservation. Many of the better RV resorts in California enforce an age limit on the units they accept, commonly ten years. Some of the higher end resorts in the Coachella Valley and along the coast run stricter policies than that, and a few reserve the right to refuse a unit on appearance alone regardless of its age.
If you buy a used destination trailer to save money, you are buying into that clock. A 2016 unit that looks like a bargain today gets turned away from certain parks tomorrow, and its resale drops sharply once it crosses the line. A brand new 2026 gives you a full decade of clean access before the question even comes up, and by then the unit is paid off.
The second thing worth knowing is length. California resorts publish maximum site lengths and they enforce them. The 20OG measures 35 feet 8 inches, which fits comfortably in most sites rated for 36 feet or more but will exclude you from smaller older parks. Ask your park for their maximum site length and their unit age policy in writing before you buy anything. It takes one phone call and it saves a very expensive mistake.
Inside the 20OG floorplan
The Timberwolf 20OG sits in the Mini Loft series of Forest River's Cherokee Timberwolf destination trailer line. It is the bigger version of the 16ML, and the extra length went into the places that matter: a larger bathroom, an RV king bed in the lower master instead of a smaller bed, and a second loft stacked above the front one.
Kitchen and living
The main door opens into the combined kitchen and living space. The refrigerator is 18 cubic feet, which is a residential size rather than the small two door boxes that come in most towables. Cooking is on a three burner high output cooktop with a flush mount range cover, a range hood with light and fan, and a large high output microwave. The sink is a farm sink that ships with a cutting board, drying rack, strainer and cup washer, and it has a pull out sprayer faucet over solid surface counters. There is real pantry and cabinet storage.
Seating is a hide-a-bed sofa and a high top table with two stools. The windows are large on every wall and all of them are solar reflective thermo controlled tinted safety glass.
Sleeping
Four separate places to sleep in one trailer. The lower master carries an RV king bed with premium bedding and a comforter. The front loft, reached by ladder, holds a queen bed plus a twin bunk mat and sits directly over the covered rear deck. The second loft above it works as another sleeping area, a play space for kids, or storage for chairs, totes and beach gear. The hide-a-bed sofa in the living room brings the total to eight.
Bathroom
Split layout. Shower with a seat on one side, private toilet and sink area directly opposite. Two people get ready at once. With eight berths in the trailer that is not a luxury, it is what makes the unit work for a full family.
Outside
Covered rear patio under the loft, full length power awning with an LED light strip, outside kitchen, outdoor shower with hot and cold water, exterior storage door, LP quick connect for a grill, inside and outside speakers, and an external scare light. There is also washer and dryer availability if you are planning long stays.

Southern California asks a lot of a trailer in three different ways
Very few states put an RV through the range of conditions California does inside a two hour drive. Salt air on the coast, brutal dry heat in the low desert, and real snow in the mountains. The 20OG handles all three, but for different reasons.
On the coast
Salt air is corrosive and the marine layer keeps everything damp. The Tufflex PVC roof membrane is one piece with no seams, which is the right answer at Pismo, Malibu, Newport, Carlsbad or Chula Vista where wind driven moisture finds every gap. The bathroom fan and ceiling fan matter more than people expect in coastal humidity, because moving air is what keeps a closed up trailer from smelling musty between visits. If your unit is going to live within a few miles of the water, rinse the underside and the frame regularly and ask us about paint and fabric protection before you take delivery.
In the low desert
Palm Springs, Indio, Thermal, Borrego Springs, Blythe and the Colorado River corridor run past 110 for months. The 20OG carries two 13.5K BTU low profile air conditioners for 27,000 BTU total, which is a meaningful advantage over the many 36 foot trailers that ship with a single unit. Every window is solar reflective thermo controlled tinted safety glass with night shades and light filtering sheer shading behind it, and the roof membrane is heat reflective. The tankless water heater means you are not holding water hot all day in that ambient temperature. If the trailer will sit in full sun without a ramada, ask about the Black Label package, which adds deep tinted frameless automotive glass, thermo foil arctic insulation, pillowtop mattress upgrade and wall controlled power shades for the living room and kitchen.
In the mountains
Big Bear, Idyllwild, Lake Arrowhead, Wrightwood and the Sierra foothills get genuine winters. The 20OG ships with a 30,000 BTU furnace and 12 volt tank heaters, so your plumbing is protected when it drops below freezing overnight. That is what separates a destination trailer you can use in December from one you have to winterize in October.
All nine 2026 Timberwolf 20OG units in stock
Five sit in Logan in northern Utah, four in Helper in Carbon County. Any of them can be delivered to Southern California. Pricing below was accurate when this page was published and moves with our promotions, so confirm the current number when you call.
Reading the price list. Stock 1121 and RVS4881 are the two under forty thousand and they carry the deepest discounts off suggested retail. Stock RVS4868 shows a smaller savings number only because it was assigned a lower manufacturer suggested price to begin with, not because it is a lesser unit. All nine share the same floorplan. If you want the shortest delivery run to Southern California, the Helper units on Highway 6 have a head start of roughly three hours over the Logan units.
Towing a 20OG in California
This is a conventional bumper pull on two axles, not a fifth wheel. The numbers you need are 8,294 pounds dry, 11,275 pounds GVWR and 1,075 pounds of hitch weight. Cargo capacity is 2,981 pounds, which is a healthy figure and means loading water, propane, bedding and gear does not immediately put you against the ceiling.
Do not shop your tow rating against the dry weight. Shop it against the GVWR, because that is what you will actually be pulling once the trailer is loaded. Realistically that puts you in a three quarter ton truck. A half ton with the max tow package can move it and some people run that setup, but a 36 foot box standing 13 feet 6 inches tall catches serious wind, and the stretch of I-15 across the Mojave will show you every pound of it. A weight distributing hitch with integrated sway control is required equipment on this trailer, not an accessory.
The Cajon Pass problem
If you tow it home yourself, the descent from Hesperia down into San Bernardino is the part to plan for. It drops close to 3,000 feet over a short distance and it is where under braked rigs get into trouble. Set your brake controller before you start down, use a low gear, and stay off continuous service braking. The truck lanes exist for a reason. The same advice applies to the Grapevine on I-5 and to the run down from Big Bear if you keep your trailer in the mountains.
California length and width rules
The 20OG is 8 feet wide, which is inside the legal limit and needs no permit. On length, California limits a truck and trailer combination to 65 feet overall. A 35 foot 8 inch trailer behind a crew cab long bed leaves you room, but if you are towing with something unusually long, measure the combination before you assume you are legal.
At 13 feet 6 inches tall you clear standard interstate structures but you will not fit certain older underpasses on surface streets, and you will not fit a drive through. Plan fuel stops at truck accessible stations.
Check our tow guides or tell us what you drive and we will give you a straight answer on whether it is enough truck.
Delivery and California registration
Getting it there
We deliver throughout the USA and Canada. From Helper it is a run of roughly 640 to 700 miles to the Los Angeles basin depending on your exact address, and Logan adds around another 200 miles on top of that. San Diego, the Coachella Valley and the Colorado River towns all sit within a comparable range. Delivery depends on your address and the access at the drop point, so ask for a quote when you call with a stock number. Delivery can go straight to an RV resort site or to a storage yard.
If you would rather tow it yourself, ask about the pre delivery walkthrough so you are not learning the systems in a rest area at midnight. If you prefer an independent transporter, that works too. Just confirm their cargo insurance covers the full value of the trailer.
Registering an out of state purchase with the California DMV
Buying from a Utah dealer does not complicate the paperwork as much as people expect. You register the trailer in California through the DMV at your home address, and you pay California use tax and registration fees rather than Utah sales tax. Trailers do not require smog certification. We provide the manufacturer statement of origin, the bill of sale and the temporary movement permit needed to get the unit home legally, and our finance office handles out of state deals.
One point worth clearing up. A destination trailer is titled and registered as a travel trailer, not as a manufactured home or a park model. That stays true even if the unit never moves again once you set it. If you are signing a long term site agreement or thinking about property tax treatment, confirm how your park and your county classify it before you commit.
Financing, trades and coverage
A California address does not change the process. Advertised payments on the 20OG start from $344 per month depending on the stock number, your term, your down payment and credit approval. Those figures are estimates for illustration only and are not an offer of credit, but they are a fair starting point for planning.
My advice is to get prequalified before you pick a unit rather than after. Knowing your real number changes how you shop and it puts you in a stronger spot when you talk price. It takes a few minutes online.
Trading in from out of state
We take out of state trades. Send us the year, make, model and VIN along with honest photos, including anything soft in the walls or floor, any delamination, and the age of the roof and tires. We will give you a number you can rely on. If we are delivering your 20OG, ask about collecting the trade on the same run.
What to add before delivery
Two things worth adding for a California site. First, surge protection and a decent voltage regulator, because older park pedestals in the desert are hard on RV electrical systems in the summer when everyone is running air conditioning. Second, paint and fabric protection if the unit will sit outdoors year round, whether that is UV in the desert or salt air on the coast. Both are cheap next to the repairs they prevent.
Where Southern California owners keep these trailers
The 20OG fits any site with 30 or 50 amp service, water, sewer and enough length for a 36 foot trailer. Here is how our California customers use them.
Winter and spring in the Coachella Valley
Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, Indio and Thermal. Seasonal sites here are the single most common use we see. The trailer stays parked from fall through spring, and with two air conditioners you can stretch comfortably into May and back into October rather than being chased out by the first hot week.
The Colorado River and the low desert lakes
Needles, Blythe, Parker Strip, Lake Havasu and Salton Sea sites. The outside kitchen, the outdoor shower with hot and cold water and that covered rear deck get used constantly at a river site, and sleeping eight means the whole family comes along instead of half of them staying home.
Coastal seasonal sites
Pismo, Oceano, San Clemente, Carlsbad, Chula Vista and the Ventura and Malibu parks. Sites here are the hardest to get and the most valuable to hold. If you are lucky enough to have one, a destination trailer parked on it beats hauling a travel trailer down every weekend, and the age policies at these parks are exactly why a new unit is the safer buy.
Mountain sites
Big Bear, Idyllwild, Lake Arrowhead, Wrightwood, Frazier Park and the Sierra foothills. Summer escape from the valley heat, and with the 30,000 BTU furnace and 12 volt tank heaters you can keep using it through the shoulder season when other trailers get winterized.
Private property and guest space
Ranch and rural property owners around Temecula, Anza, Aguanga, Julian, Ramona, Apple Valley and the high desert put these on their own land as guest quarters, as rental income, or as a place to live while a house gets built. Check your county and any HOA rules on occupying an RV on private property first, since those vary sharply across Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties.
Common questions from California buyers
Can a California resident buy an RV from a Utah dealer?
Yes, and it happens all the time. You register the trailer with the California DMV at your home address and pay California use tax and fees rather than Utah sales tax. We supply the manufacturer statement of origin, bill of sale and a temporary movement permit. Trailers do not need smog certification.
How much can I actually save buying out of state?
On these nine units the sale prices run between $39,995 and $41,997 against manufacturer suggested prices from $62,290 to $70,846. That is a discount of twenty to twenty nine thousand dollars depending on the stock number. Delivery to Southern California is a fraction of that. Run the numbers on a comparable unit locally and the answer is usually obvious.
Will a 20OG fit in a California RV resort site?
At 35 feet 8 inches long and 8 feet wide it fits any site rated for 36 feet or more, which covers the large majority of resorts in Southern California. Smaller and older parks may not accommodate it. Always confirm the maximum site length with your specific park before purchasing.
Do California parks have an age limit on trailers?
Many do, and ten years is a common threshold. Some higher end resorts are stricter and also judge on appearance. Buying a new 2026 unit gives you a full decade of clean access, which is one of the strongest arguments against saving a few thousand on a used destination trailer.
How many people does it sleep?
Eight. RV king bed in the lower master, queen bed plus a twin bunk mat in the front loft, a hide-a-bed sofa in the living room, and a second loft that can be set up as more sleeping space or used for storage.
Is one air conditioner enough in Palm Springs?
It would not be, which is why this unit ships with two. The 20OG carries 27,000 BTU of cooling across two 13.5K low profile air conditioners as standard, plus solar reflective tinted glass, night shades and a heat reflective roof. That is the right specification for the Coachella Valley in July.
What truck do I need?
Plan around the 11,275 pound GVWR, not the 8,294 pound dry weight. A three quarter ton truck with a weight distributing hitch and sway control is the sensible setup. Hitch weight is 1,075 pounds. Given the length and the 13 foot 6 inch height, do not go light on the tow vehicle.
What is the difference between a destination trailer and a park model?
A park model is typically built to a different standard, is often wider than highway legal, and is not intended for regular travel. The 20OG is a standard 8 foot wide travel trailer on two axles with a bumper pull hitch. It registers as a travel trailer and you can tow it any day you want to move it.
Can I see the unit without driving to Utah?
Every stock number on this page has a full photo gallery, a virtual tour and a 360 view. Beyond that, ask us about a live video walkthrough with a salesperson inside the trailer. If you would rather come up in person, ask about holding a unit while you travel.
How fast do these sell?
The 20OG moves quickly, and we are past the midpoint of the 2026 model year. Nine units can go faster than it sounds. If a particular stock number is the one you want, call and ask about holding it rather than thinking about it for a week.
